Stayed at the Montage for spring break. Had breakfast here everyday. Simple but delicious breakfast buffet offers breads and delicious pastries, hot foods: eggs, bacon, sausage both pork and chicken or turkey, amazing omelet bar as well as cereals, fresh fruits etc. Also dined in for dinner and was AMAZING. Staff was so friendly and food so incredibly delicious. Food is both homey and gourmet and to finish off we ordered dessert along with a trio of housemate ice creams that were to die for. Definitely recommending to anyone set to visit Park City.

Great hotel but for the price, Apex is no bargain. Food average at best. Maybe it will be better for ski season.

Stayed here for my family's ski trip, so free breakfast was served here (buffet). The buffet is actually pretty good. There are the typical options of carbs (bagels, toast, muffins, waffles) with rotations of different type of bread! There were cranberries, carrots, and pumpkin. There is also fresh fruit for breakfast! Lots of berries and tropical fruit. Omelette are included ofc. Lunch and dinner are just like any other American place; you've got the burgers and fries for lunch. Dinner consists of some pastas, steak, seafoods, etc. I'd give this place 3 star, but I'm giving it 1 because of the service. Almost all the waiters and waitresses have been incredibly rude. I don't know what they do in the back, but they are really slow too (considering that there are not many people whenever I go). There is a lot of miscommunication between the staff as well, which results in longer service time and wrong foods/items being delivered to me. I would give a 2 star, but given the consistency of the poor service, it really deserves a 1

Since the Montage was built i have heard rave reviews about the chicken schnitzel at the restaurant. After a nice hike at Deer Valley today (lots of wild flowers) i stopped at Montage for schnitzel. It was good but in my opinion not great. Won't order it again. Wait staff was very attentive in a beautiful location. Also the schnitzel was one of the pricier selections on the menu at $29.

If give a zero star if that option was available. Our reservation request was outside seating but upon arrival they tried to sit is inside. Once outside, the chair seat on position 16 (so Apex knows where I'm talking about) was filthy with food stains, napkin for one of us only, no wine list provided until requested, table cloth was filthy! They want $26 for a glass of an overly oaked Rombauer Chardonany that is sold for $30 a bottle at Total Wine! Welcome to Montage over pricing! Total disappointment. I feigned sickness so my wife could excuse us. I'd rather told them the real reason for leaving. Just terrible, never again.

Great place!! Dinner was delicious. I ordered the Moroccan Chicken and my mom had the Filet Mignon.. both were delicious. The bread was great - some kind of cheddar popper. Also, the compliments of the chef was good - it was some kind of salami w/ garlic and bread sticks. They also gave us some butter, pepper and black sea salt for the bread. My mom and I loved the sea salt - literally could just eat that by itself haha. For the appetizer we ordered the crab cakes. It was yummy. They definitely did not skimp on crab. For dessert we ordered two crepes - rhubarb & peach, and the dulce de leche chocolate. our waiter Christopher was great. Good customer service and very knowledgeable. The manager also came out and made sure we were doing good. The ambiance is good. We sat in the room with the fireplace - very cozy and elegant. Lighter colors and carpeted floors. There is another room where the bar is and it is a little different. Wood floors and a little darker look. There was a third room, but it was closed off - since we went during the not so busy season. I definitely will be coming back when in town!

Christmas dinner was such a disappointment here. First, it was a set menu and we weren't told of it when made the reservations. You would think they would have told us, right? Wrong. $125 per person... Super pricey. Everything that could go wrong went wrong: - low quality ingredients used in the food - food was cold & didn't taste good at all - courses came out in different times. our party of 6 never got to enjoy the food together. - service was horrible all-around Sadly to say, we spent a fortune and left feeling that we were taken advantage of. I can't think of a single reason that would make me want to return.

I really enjoyed the wine and the beautiful restaurant to spend romantic time with my bf, this was something ive been searching in Park city , but it was hard to find at this hour. However the food was alright , beet salad had some sand , lobster tail was okey , a little raw inside but i never been a fan of it . At least everything was fresh. Steak is good . Apple lasagna was the best dish even though its desert Definitely try Gnocchi's!

We've had breakfast here for two days in a row--because this is the only place on the property to have breakfast. We tried most of the menu, and the standouts are the pancakes (well, the syrup really), and the huevos rancheros. It's pretty good food (albeit expensive for what you're getting) and the deck is a nice place to sit and linger. Which you'll do, because it takes a long time to get your food.

Property, hotel, views, etc. are all 5-star perfection. This review is for the bar experience only; we did not dine in the restaurant. The bar is beautiful - dark woods, well-lit and romantic, gorgeous views, etc. That's all built-in. The service, however was another story, in my opinion. My colleague and I came in here for after-dinner drinks one evening, and the bar wasn't too busy. One other couple alongside us at the bar, and one high-top table behind us with a few patrons. Took bartender a while to acknowledge us; he was quick to help my colleague choose a beer from their draught selection, but when I told him I was in the mood for a digestif or something night-cap style - which should be de rigeur and not an unusual request for a place of this caliber - he was of no help. He turned around and grabbed their standard bar menu, and just put it down in front of me. I was hoping for recommendations or a special concoction, but I was faced with the "typical" list of margaritas, gin drinks, etc. I ended up choosing a $14 Kir Royale, which in my book is definitely not a digestif, but whatever. The bubbly-to-chambord ratio was off, the drink was too syrupy-sweet, but at least it had a few plump blackberries at the bottom. The bartender left us alone totally and didn't ask us if we wanted another round, nor was he prompt with the handling of our bill. I will say that this experience was night and day different from all the other beyond 5-star perfect staff members and service experiences I had at this hotel during my stay.

Had V day dinner here. The hotel is amazing and the restaurant keeps with the theme. Started with drinks at the bar and finished the night in the main dining room. Food, drinks, and dessert were all fabulous. 5 star experience all the way around.

Wonderful meal, outstanding service, great fresh shucked oysters, the rillettes were outstanding, and the ambience was terrific. Most impressive the pots de creme were as good as Grandma makes in France. Overall, a great experience, but not a cheap one.

Wonderful dinner with a glorious finish of select coffee. We asked for and received some complementary beans. Seriously good coffee. Not to say the meal wasn't delicious - it was. And the service - awesome. But make sure you get the coffee!

The following is a review of the skiers buffet over ~5 visits in 2012. I cannot recommend this in good faith, as DV has other dining establishments that are significantly better (St. Regis, Stein, Royal Street Cafe) I have been continually disappointed in the skiers buffet. The food is nothing special, sometimes I have even taken one bite of my food and left it on my plate. The service has been sub-par, very slow. You have to flag down a server to even get a refill on water or order from the menu. For a 35 dollar lunch I would expect much, much more. The steak sandwich off the menu is quite good, though. I have never been for dinner.

First let me premise this low rating by saying that I visited Apex during the busy New Year holiday weekend in a dinner party of 10, with reservations for 9:45pm, 15 minutes before their closing time.. With that in mind, I did not expect anything spectacular in the way of service. And perhaps they were off their game. But that being said, this is a nice restaurant, in an upscale resort, and we did expect to enjoy at least part of our meal...Especially for the remarkable amount of money spent. The popover bread brought to our table was undercooked, and my fiancée's was raw inside. The Caesar salads were boring and awkwardly gigantic. Each of us ended up wasting half of our plate. The menu in general is limited for those not ordering steak. So I opted for two appetizer dishes (the scallops appetizer and a gnocchi appetizer) to be my entree, and requested such. The server mistakenly served the scallop dish first, which was awkward for the table pacing, and I was forced to just eat it then so it wouldn't get overcooked or cold. The gnocchi dish did come out during entrees, but was tiny and unenjoyable at best. The sauce was dark, watery and flat, and the meager 4 gnocchi were fried and soggy. I ate 1 and a half, and only a taste of the clunky parsnips and soggy mushrooms before stopping. Most of our table ordered steak, and none of them liked theirs. My fiancé ordered the rib eye with lobster, shaved black truffle and foie gras (one of each of the accompaniments available.) The lobster was overcooked and hard, and the steak was unseasoned, tough, and funky-tasting. The foie was foie. Since no one else enjoyed their steaks, he opted not to ask for another dish. Which didn't matter anyway because when he did tell the server that he didn't enjoy it, the server remarkably only responded with "can I get you some dessert?" Um no, thanks..We didn't bother with desserts or coffee here after that. Best part of our meal was the wine. And we brought that ourselves. On TOP of that - on leaving Apex, the Montage valet let someone double park behind our car, and couldn't fine the car owner to move it!! We waited nearly 30 minutes, watching other cars come and go, before we were handed the keys to leave... Yikes. There are so many better eateries in Park City. Choose another.

The breakfast was amazing! I would recommend the signature breakfast or the eggs Benedict. The whole staff was very hospitable and friendly. Our server Jessica was great!

I really enjoyed my dinner and excellent service. They custom crafted a gluten free dinner based on their wonderful menu. I had the local caught trout and smoked salmon. The restaurant is beautiful and very relaxing.

The Food was good but unfortunately I can't say the same thing about the service. You ask for a coke, u get water, u ask for nachos, u get wings or u don't get anything at all until u ask again and again...

The restaurant is beautiful. Contemporary Medieval architecture, high ceilings, etc. Food is great. I had lamb and it was one of the most tender lambs I've eaten in my life. They are having a summer special where they offer a 3 course meal (choice of exquisitely executed salads, choice of main entree, and dessert) for a fixed price of $30.00, which is a real bargain for a restaurant of this caliber. I gave it 4 and not 5 stars because although everything else is just beautifully done, the restaurant is a bit lacking in service. The waiters take a long time to approach the table initially, take a long time before they come again to take the order, and take a long time before they bring out the starting bread. We have dined twice here and both times we ordered champagne. Both times, the waiters would walk by the table, look at the table, and not refill the champagne glasses.

Such a disappointing experience. Wonderful food, beautiful views, and dismal service. I had the shrimp tacos. Wonderful tart, citrus flavor, but they were served on a plate that was clearly too small for this messy dish. My momma had the trout which was equally delicious. Now to the down side. Our waiter brought us waters, but then the house manager took our order. Not a big deal, but after the food came out no one stopped by to check in and see if the food was up to snuff. This isn't something that would normally bother me, but for a $60 lunch I expect the wait staff to be a little more attentive. The biggest offense came when the waiter brought our bill while we were still eating. I should clarify...we weren't almost finished with our meal, we weren't even half way finished with our meal, we had only been eating for about 10 minutes. The waiter didn't ask how our food was, or if we would like something else (like dessert maybe!), he only said "whenever your ready." The waiter then came back after a few minutes to see if we had put a card down, only to realize he had given us the wrong bill. He then quickly swapped out the checks without saying anything and walked away. We then felt awkwardly rushed to finished our meal and GTFO. As a somewhat recent transplant to Los Angeles I've had the pleasure of visiting many high rated restaurants. Sometimes the food doesn't quite measure up, or the concept is a little too unusual for my taste, but what they all have in common is excellent service. The Apex fell completely flat in this department, and there are just too many great restaurants in Deer Valley to put up with sloppy service.

We had lunch at Apex this week before the ski season gets started. The service was excellent, however we were the only lunch customers. Our waiter Ron was fun, informative and flattered my 80 yr. old mom shamelessly. The burger and (real potato!) fries were delicious and should be @ $18. The Wild Salmon listed under the Salad section on the menu ($22) was okay... a beautiful piece of salmon (approx. 6 oz..) sitting atop about 1/2 cup of greens with 3 slivers of grapefruit. Not sure I would call this a salad. The waiter inquired how the salmon and burger should be cooked when ordering, however the salmon arrived quite raw upon first bite. I like sushi, but only when ordering sushi. The salmon was returned to the kitchen for more cooking. The 2nd arrival of the salmon was cooked more around the edges but still raw in the middle. I ate the cooked parts leaving about 2 oz. of raw salmon on the plate, which was not addressed by the waiter upon clearing. :( The Raspberry Beret Handcrafted Soda ($7) and Raspberry Meringue with Sicilian lemon sorbet and seasonal berries ($11) were all completely delicious.

Decent place, it has so much potential. It took forever to get a drink, 1 round per hour. Big salads and small entrees. The biscuit muffins were killer good. I love wine and they have a great selection but you could tell they were really trying to push it.

Billed as the flagship restaurant at the montage, APEX disappoints from the get go and in a number of key ways. First the atmosphere, it's crowded it lacks sweeping vistas and does not give you a five star lodge feel. Second the food we went with two of their signature dishes the house Caesar salad and the pork loin for two. The Caesar was fine but the pork although appealing to the eye and with a colorful succotash came overcooked. This makes a huge difference on the tableside pork loin and all six of the couples dining with me this evening had the pork at least APEX is consistent as they over cook the pork across-the-board. The final insult was with the reservations we going to reservation for 6:30 and they said the kitchen was slow and they couldn't accommodate our request even though we had a reservation. The result is that we ate at nearly 8 o'clock. I would not go back even if you paid me and when coming to. Dear Valley, I would stay at the St. Regis!

After trying 25+ restaurants in the Park City area over the past six months, I decided it was time to write some reviews. We discovered Apex as part of last month's Dine About event. In comparison to similar restaurants, Apex is merely adequate. The decor was pleasant, but not remarkable. The food was pretty evenly mixed between 'good' and 'excellent.' I'm pretty sure the chef is allergic to salt, because there sure wasn't any in the food. I'm not opposed to Apex, but it didn't give me a real reason to return. There are better options for either a foodie experience or a ski-lodge type of place. On a positive note, the service was impeccable.

Great service. Ambiance okay. Gnocchi app great. Wine list decent. Overall food is basic and nothing amazing just solid alternative to going into town. Salmon steak good just nothing really innovative. This restaurant is better than the j&g grill at the st.regis as an FYI . Lounge and bar area great at montage.

We ate at both new Deer Valley resorts. Right off the bat, the Montage was a bit more relaxed & welcoming. Service was very slow, but food was good. A bit expensive, but it's Deer Valley.

I dined at Apex twice in December while on vacation in Deer Valley. Although the hotel and restaurant are still getting their sea legs, Apex is well on its way to giving Deer Valley's other top dining locations a run for their money. With the help of some very attentive sommeliers on loan from the Montage Laguna Beach (thank you Shannon), the service at Apex was first rate, and the food cooked to perfection. My filet mignon was so consistently grilled that I was sure it had been prepared using a sous vide cooking method (it had not, which is a testament to the chef's ability to cook a thick filet perfectly). My wife had the short ribs, which she ranked right up there with the short ribs we ate at Talisker. The mushroom risotto was also delicious, and the risotto perfectly al dente. The décor at Apex is cozy but chic, comparable to the warm craftsman style restaurants found at other Montage hotels, and the scale of the dining area is designed to make you feel comfortable and not overwhelmed. Apex has an extensive and easy to navigate wine list, including a number of moderately price wines in each varietal from every major wine producing region of the world (I enjoyed a very good Stellenbosch Cabernet there on my first visit). Overall, Apex is an outstanding restaurant and well worth dining at the next time you are in Deer Valley or Park City.

MAJOR F.....I am a Park City local and enjoy trying the various cuisine choices our town has to offer. I am very careful when giving a negative review especially given it's potential negative impact on our local economy. That said Apex at the Montage was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The tomato soup and chili we ordered for lunch was "ice cold" and had to be sent back. The service was VERY slow. A steak sandwich took an hour and was of low quality. Please save yourself the frustration and money and go somewhere else!

Apex is the mega-fancy new restaurant (one of four on the premises) of the fantabulous new Montage resort in Deer Valley. I'd certainly given it five stars for ambiance: luxurious but not over-the-top, spacious in a comforable, not too-empty-feeling fashion, and just the right amount of ski-lodgeyness thrown in for good measure. The menu wins few points for originality. Most of the high-end resort mainstays are here: lobster tails, prime steaks, braised short ribs, venison loin (okay, so maybe that's only standard at Western ski resorts), chilled shellfish, foie gras, lobster bisque, and pan-seared Chilean sea bass. Off the beaten path a bit are an excellent fondue appetizer, Idaho trout with Maryland lump crab, and cioppino, one of two Italian dishes on the menu (the other being a duck confit tortelloni appetizer). I went with the Prime New York Strip as my main course, and while it's not the best steak I've ever had (keeping in mind I used to live in New York and have eaten at most of its legendary steakhouses), it's certainly the best I've had in Deer Valley/Park City. The fondue appetizer's cheese was good, but a little more variety in the dip-ins (bread and green apples) would've been appreciated. The service is still getting its footing; our server was very nice, but the delays between courses were a tad long, and our entrees were served to the incorrect people. We were also initially overcharged for six bottles of Fuji water when we'd only ordered three. I like this place, but I'd like to see a more adventuresome menu emerge in the future, along with some nightly chef's specials (there were none when we dined).

Order the aged wagyu. To die for. Only reason i give it 4 stars is they measure their drink portions to the T...like with scientific equipment to make sure you get literally only one shot. Ordered a gin martini and the glass came half full. When i asked why, they said, that's how they do it in Utah. Weird. I guess next time i'll just pour my own drink in my room and take it to the restaurant to have with my steak.

My girlfriend's and I had a wonderful dinner this summer at Apex! The food was outstanding along with the service. Chris our server took great care of us, we like to enjoy our meal so he made sure to pace the food just right so we were really able to savor each bite. The Som Stephen made our meal that much better by suggesting some of the best wine I have had in awhile. We gave him a price limit and he paired a perfect wine to enjoy with our entree's. All in all it was a wonderful experience!

Absolutely first class--had breakfast there. Despite few people in the dining room (a time one often gets really poor service), our waiter was attentive and responsive without being obtrusive. I was hesitant to order huevos rancheros--I'm from CA--this is UT--but the dish was delicious! I would definitely go back; pricey but worth it!

OMG. Could the service be any slower?? We should've been tipped off by the absence of any valets outside the hotel. We had to walk in to the front desk and ended up giving our keys to an apologetic staff member who said she would take care of it. I'm currently sitting at our table and it's been 70 minutes (and counting) and our entrees haven't arrived. We didn't order starters or even salads. It took about 15 minutes to get menus after we were seated, and we finally ordered after 25 minutes. After 40 minutes a busser brought us some bread - thank God!!! The table next to us, who arrived after us, already put in a lengthy and passionate complaint to the manager. They still haven't eaten either. It's unbelievable the lack of common sense with management. People come to a restaurant to eat. Feed us!! Considering the price of the food and the absolutely terrible service, no matter how good the food is (and I LOVE food), we will not come back here. You've been warned.

Had lunch at the Apex today and once again I was not disappointed. Fantastic service and incredible food. We started with the prosciutto flatbread (which I will order as my meal the next time) and I then had the prime rib sandwich. Both wonderful, as we're my husband's and kid's meals. Everyone on staff dotted on us throughout our meal. We love this place and will definitely be back.

Resort has been open less than 3 weeks and the restaurant is still working out the kinks (still trying to get to know their own credit card and billing systems, for example), but we had a great meal here. Service is excellent. Really enjoyed the popovers and duck tortellini appetizer. The trout, sea bass and steak entrees were superb. Churro smores dessert was clever and good, and apple streudel was delicious. Foie gras and chocolate suffle were just ok. Sommelier was pleasant but not as knowledgeable as we've experienced elsewhere. Elegant atmosphere but kid-friendly. The kids enjoyed specialty sodas. Downstairs from the restaurant is a fabulous game room complete with shuffleboard table, wii stations, darts, video games and bowling alley.

APEX is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food and service. The views and proximity to Deer Valley's Empire ski area are remarkable. The food is fresh and the menu is quite varied. The wine list is incredible -- for Utah, particularly if you enjoy French Whites. I highly recommend APEX for your next lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed. The Montage has hit a home run with this one.
